The French international has been in stellar form for Atletico, scoring 22 goals in La Liga this season.
According to The Mirror, Chelsea are willing to trigger Griezmann’s £43.5m release clause in an attempt to bring the French international to Stamford Bridge.
Atletico are believed to be keen on renegotiating the 24-year-old’s deal, but the report suggests Griezmann is keen on a move to the Premier League.
Griezmann joined Atletico from Real Sociedad in a £24m transfer following the 2014 World Cup, and the Spanish giants would be unwilling to let one of its most prized assets leave the club after just one season.
However, Atletico boss Diego Simeone may have to do without Griezmann if Chelsea do in fact trigger star attacker’s buyout clause.
Griezmann could become the third player to join Chelsea from Atletico in the past year following the moves of Diego Costa and Felipe Luis to the Premier League giants.
