The Blues want to snap up three stars from the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
The £32m deal to bring Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa to Chelsea appears to be as good as done with the Spaniard completing a medical at the club.
Yet that is not the end of the Blues’ raid on the Spanish champions, with manager Jose Mourinho also having his eye on left-back Felipe Luis and former player Tiago, according to the Mirror.
Here is an analysis of each player and how they would fit into the West Londoners’ side.
Diego Costa
Mourinho has had his eye on this 25-year-old for some time, which after scoring 37 goals for Atleti in all competitions last term is perhaps little surprise.
The side’s strike force is by far their weakest area and the futures of current crop Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres all remain in doubt.
Therefore recruitment was needed and Costa’s physicality should fit into the Premier League very well, although his lack of pace is often highlighted as a concern.
