Chelsea are looking to rival Arsenal for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin after the Blues sent scouts to check-up on him as the Saints took on Everton on Saturday, The Telegraph reports.
According to the report, Schneiderlin is high on Arsenal’s wish-list and the Gunners are ‘sure’ to make a bid for the defensive midfielder this summer, but Chelsea’s arrival on the case could make matters more interesting.
Schneiderlin was tipped to join the exodus from Southampton last summer and was heavily linked with a move to Spurs (via Daily Mail), but eventually stayed and has since enjoyed a wonderful campaign.

Champions League football is vital for the 25-year-old and he has recently stated that failure to qualify for the competition with Southampton would prompt a move elsewhere, as per The Telegraph.
Schneiderlin is valued at around £25m by Southampton, according to the report, which is a respectable price-tag given Schneiderlin’s majestic performances this season.
Now a mainstay in France’s XI, Ronald Koeman will do well to hold onto a player presently considered as one of the best in his position.
