The young left-back has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as a potential replacement for Felipe Luis, however, The Mirror reports Serie A giants AS Roma have made an £11m bid for the Ghanaian international.
Jose Mourinho is believed to be a big fan of Rahman but the report suggests the player himself does not want to suffer the same fate as international teammate Christian Atsu and struggle to break into the star-studded Blues lineup.
Felipe Luis has struggled for playing time since joining from Atletico Madrid due to the excellent form of Cesar Azpilicueta and is being linked with a return to La Liga.
20-year-old Rahman was one of the stars of the Bundesliga season and helped Augsburg finish fifth and claim a spot in next season’s Europa League.
He finished the season as the Bundesliga’s seventh-best player according the league’s official player rankings index.
