Liga giants have moved closer to signing Uruguay forward.
Real Madrid have stepped up their attempts to sign coveted Napoli front man Edinson Cavani this summer after holding talks with the player’s agent in the Spanish capital on Monday, reports the Daily Mail.
The deadly Uruguay international has been the subject of intense speculation of late linking the striker with a big-money move to either Chelsea or Madrid when the summer transfer window reopens for business on July 1.
The 26-year-old has a contract with his Serie A club that runs until June 30 2017 and that deal contains a buyout clause worth a reported £53.5 million, a fee that the west London club are believed to be unwilling to meet.
And that has therefore paved the path clear for los Blancos to move for a player who netted an impressive 38 goals in just 43 matches in all competitions for Napoli last season, including 29 strikes in only 34 league encounters as his club finished as runners-up to champions Juventus.
