Italian international said to be on the market this summer.
Chelsea are expected to offer an improved bid of €15m for Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, according to reports in the Italian media.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico all summer, and following his impressive displays at the Confederations Cup, it is understood both Real Madrid and PSG are still monitoring his situation.
Despite spending his entire career with the Giallorossi, the club made it clear earlier this summer that if the price was right they would not be entirely against selling their “Future Captain”.
De Rossi had his issues last season, with both form and fitness conspiring against him as criticism grew from the stands and in the media.
As a result, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will look to make a move for him this month, as he continues to add midfield options to his squad according to football-italia.net.
The Portuguese tactician is said to have wanted De Rossi during his time at both Inter and Real Madrid, and will now hope it’s third time lucky as he looks to take him to Stamford Bridge.
La Gazzetta dello Sport also suggest that a swap deal with PSG’s Marco Verratti could be another possibility, and despite being settled in Paris, the Italian under-21 starlet would be tempted by a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti in Madrid.
It remains to be seen whether De Rossi is finally sold this summer, but given his love for the club and the numerous false reports over the years, it is still unlikely that he will leave Rome ahead of next season.
