Chelsea have been linked with a surprise move to sign West Ham United left-back Aaron Cresswell in the summer transfer window after the defender’s impressive form this season.
The 25-year-old has shone in the Premier League this season after joining from Championship side Ipswich Town, looking instantly comfortable at this level and showing an eye for goal as well with a fine free-kick against Stoke City this weekend.
Chelsea already have Cesar Azpilicueta and Filipe Luis to choose from in that position, which makes it somewhat surprising that the Blues would want another player at left-back.
Still, with Luis failing to impress in his first season at Stamford Bridge, it might be that Jose Mourinho is considering moving for Cresswell as a backup player to Azpilicueta.
The Metro claims that Manchester City are also mentioned as possible suitors, with the reigning Premier League champions in need of strengthening their homegrown quota, which may be playing into Chelsea’s minds as well.
