Ramires lands himself in hot water after missing two matches for a party.
The Brazilian FA (known as the CBF) has slammed Chelsea midfielder Ramires for missing two internationals against Italy and Russia to go to a dinner party organised by the 26-year-old’s wife.
Although the Blues star was not named directly, it was said that the player was the member of an English team and Ramires’ team mates who also play for Brazil, David Luiz and Oscar, were present for both matches.
“I do not speak of his name, but it was a player who plays in England. Imagine if Thiago Silva turned to the group and said that he could not face Russia or Italy because his wife arranged a dinner party with friends,” CBF president Jose Maria Marin was quoted on Globosporte.
However, the comments don’t rule out Manchester United duo Rafael and Anderson, but news outlet Globosporte have been less tactful and have named the Chelsea man as the culprit.
Ramires did supply a medical note at the time stating that the player was injured and that was why he could not play, although this was clearly not bought by the CBF.
It is not the first time the wife of the Brazilian has landed the Stamford Bridge player in trouble, with Islana Rose claiming around the time of dinner party saga that the Brazil hierarchy were like the mafia for leaving her husband out of the Confederations Cup squad.
“Today is just another mediocre and injust selection from the Mafia. Congratulations, CBF! Congratulations, Brazil. This is why we are not and will never be the best in the world!” Rosa put on social networking site Instagram, as quoted by Lancenet.
The country of course went onto win the tournament, beating European and World champions Spain 3-0 in the final, with the absence of Ramires offering new Tottenham Hotspur signing Paulinho the chance to shine.
