Chelsea’s Brazilian youngster hopes to secure a loan switch to a Premier League club to help him break into the first team at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea youngster Lucas Piazon wants to move to a Premier League club on loan this coming season as he seeks first team experience.
“It’s hard to say how often I will play or if I will play at all,” Piazon told ESPN Brasil.
“We have to wait and see if any Premier League clubs will be interested in me.”
The Brazilian spent the past campaign at Malaga, and made four starts and seven substitute appearances in La Liga during the team’s fight for a sixth place finish.
In that time he didn’t manage to score a goal, but supplied two assists for his team-mates from midfield, having been deployed in the middle of the park and on both flanks.
Still just 19 years old, he is ahead of many players the same age, but is well aware that regular first team football is vital at this early stage of his career.
If Piazon is to make it at Chelsea, he will have to start afresh.
Granted just a single appearance from the bench by each of Roberto Di Matteo and Rafa Benitez before going on loan last season, he will now have to make an impression on Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea’s new Portuguese manager will of course have seen Piazon in action in Spain, having just left Real Madrid, and the young Brazilian is looking forward to having a clean slate.
“I am excited, everything will change,” he added.
“It will be very good to work with someone like Mourinho.”
He will have to get into the team first, but that loan switch he craves could be his best bet to reaching that goal.
