The left-back has been a key part of the success Ronald Koeman’s side have enjoyed this season, playing in every Premier League match so far bar the one he was ineligible for against the Blues.
The Saints are currently fourth in the English top tier after 20 matches and having become such a key part of an exciting project at St Mary’s, Bertrand does not want to leave when his loan spell ends.
“I’m very happy here, playing week-in, week-out first and foremost. Playing the way we play, with these players, this manager and this coaching staff is getting the best out of me,” the 25-year-old was quoted by Setanta.
“Yeah definitely [I would like to stay]. I’m enjoying my football here so we will see what the future holds.”
Bertrand came through the youth system at Stamford Bridge after signing from Gillingham and although broke into the first team in 2006 never truly established himself in West London.
The full-back’s current loan spell is the seventh of his career and Jose Mourinho is likely to be open to selling the Englishman at the end of the season.
