Petr Cech has demanded talks with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho over his future at the club after Thibaut Courtois was preferred in goal during the side’s Premier League opener with Burnley on Monday, reports the Independent.
Cech has been the No.1 at Stamford Bridge for the past 10 years, winning three league titles, four FA Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League during that time.
The 32-year-old also holds the record for having kept more clean-sheets than any other goalkeeper in Premier League history, but has now found himself watching on from the bench.
That is because Courtois has returned to West London this summer following three years of success on-loan with Atletico Madrid.
During that time the 22-year-old won the Copa del Rey, Europa League and La Liga and was also named ‘keeper of the year twice in the Spanish top tier.
At 10 years Cech’s junior the Belgian is seen as the future for the Blues, but Mourinho wants to keep both stoppers at the Bridge is possible.
Yet the Czech Republic international is not prepared to play second fiddle to Courtois for the next 12 months and with many sides interested in his services, could well bring a decade of success in West London to an end.
