Chelsea midfielder could rebuild Stamford Bridge career with switch to Real Sociedad.
Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran is a surprise target for La Liga side Real Sociedad this summer, according to the Daily Express.
The Basque club are confident of bringing the 20 year-old playmaker to Spain on a season-long loan, and with chances likely to be rare to come by in the Chelsea side this season, McEachran may view Real Sociedad as a major opportunity to earn regular top flight football.
In 2010, McEachran looked well on course for the highest level.
He made his debut in the UEFA Champions League for Chelsea under Carlo Ancelotti with a series of calm but quietly impressive performances, but earned very little chances to impress under Ancelotti’s successors in the Stamford Bridge hotseat Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo or Rafa Benitez.
Still, McEachran resurrected his career somewhat with a loan spell at Middlesbrough last season, and has proven he is willing to graft in order to achieve his goals.
La Liga could well suit him, with technical players often favoured over more physical footballers, and perhaps this will offer McEachran the opportunity to prove himself to Chelsea’s management.
