The Blues are holding talks with the England international over a new deal, which would see him commit his long-term future to the Stamford Bridge outfit, as well as being rewarded for his superb form of late.
Chelsea recently tied down two other key players in Thibaut Courtois and Cesar Azpilicueta to new contracts, and the addition of Cahill would be another step in the right direction for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Cahill joined Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers back in 2012 and has been an outstanding performer for the club since, as well as proving a key player for England in recent times.
