Hazard would relish the chance to come up against Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Most Chelsea fans are probably hoping their team avoids Barcelona or Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals but that is exactly what Eden Hazard wants.
The Belgium international wants to one day be considered as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are now and thinks the only way to do that is to face the world-class duo.
“For me, for a young player, it’s very important to test myself against Ronaldo or Messi,” Hazard was quoted by the Telegraph.
“Just to be on the pitch with them would be good and I would try to do well.
“It’s an aspiration for me to be as good as Ronaldo and Messi. I watch a lot of games they play in and I try to be on the same level.”
The 23-year-old has shown this season that he genuinely has the potential to be considered the world’s best one day, standing out as the key figure in Jose Mourinho’s team.
Hazard has already made 44 appearances in all competitions in 2013/14, scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists and catapulting the west London club to a potential fourth Premier League title.
Yet when the draw is made for the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Friday, it’s likely that most of the supporters and Mourinho himself don’t have Barca and Madrid very high on their wishlist of opponents.
