Thibaut Courtois admits Atletico love.
Chelsea loanee Thibaut Courtois says Atletico Madrid are more important to him than the Blues and has hinted he could join the Spanish club permanently.
The Belgium international goalkeeper is spending his third consecutive season at the Vicente Calderon, where the 21-year-old has shone.
Diego Simeone’s side have won the Europa League and Copa del Rey with Courtois between the sticks, but stalwart Petr Cech continues to block his route to first team football at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian has revealed he decided to stay at Atletico in order to gain first team football before next summer’s World Cup but has admitted Atletico are more important to him than the Blues.
“I looked forward to playing in the Champions League with Atletico and wanted to be a starter before the World Cup.
“But now everything depends on Chelsea. I had a conversation with Mourinho and decided it was best to stay here.
“I belong to Chelsea, but Atletico is the most important club in my life. I have received titles and prestige in a short time.”
