Lukaku comes under serious criticism from the Blues manager.
In a move that surprised many Romelu Lukaku was loaned to Everton from Chelsea on transfer deadline day despite Jose Mourinho promising the striker game time.
Since arriving at Goodison Park the 20-year-old has continued the fine goal-scoring form the Belgian showed at West Bromwich Albion last term and has seven league goals already.
Lukaku has been fairly candid about what the youngster thought about Mourinho’s decision to loan the forward out and it was clear the Belgium international felt hard done by.
However, the Portuguese coach has now responded to the criticism from the attacker and has suggested that it was in fact the starlet’s own doing.
“Romelu likes to speak,” Mourinho was quoted by the Guardian.
“He’s a young boy. But the only thing that he didn’t say is why he went to Everton on loan.
“My last contact with him was to tell him exactly that. ‘Why you never say why you are not here?’
“It’s something that he should say, because he likes to speak, the reason why he is not with Chelsea and he is in Everton.”
Whatever was said it’s clear that the player and manager don’t see entirely eye to eye and the west London club are developing a reputation of wasting the talent of young stars.
Kevin De Bruyne was given a chance at Stamford Bridge this term, but after starting the first two Premier League games of the season the 22-year-old has since been demoted to the reserves and somewhat abandoned.
It’s all well and good the club having the best youngsters available, but they have to be kept happy.
