Kieran Gibbs
Although many attributed Arsenal’s loss to Bayern Munich to Mesut Ozil’s penalty miss or Wojciech Szczesny’s red card, another factor may have made a big difference.
Kieran Gibbs was substituted due to injury against the Bavarian giants, and Nacho Monreal struggled upon replacing him.
It is only injuries that have held Gibbs back, for the 24 year-old would surely have made more than 144 club appearances by now otherwise.
Gibbs has proven a great covering defender on the left hand side, with his pace ensuring he is able to mop up bursts from the quickest of wingers.
Gibbs excels at charging up and down the flank, and joins the Arsenal attack whenever possible.
If Cole fails to win his place back in the Chelsea side, he has a very real chance of winning a place on the plane.
