Blues edge closer to £23m deal for Montenegrin.
New Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing in-demand Fiorentina front man Stevan Jovetic to Stamford Bridge this summer, reports The Times.
The highly-rated Montenegro international has been with the Florence-based Serie A outfit for five seasons now, having signed for Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade for just £7 million in May 2008.
In the intervening five-year period, the 23-year-old has made quite a name for himself in both Italy, as well as throughout Europe, having netted 39 goals in 133 matches in all competitions for his club, including 34 strikes in 115 Serie A fixtures.
And it is that kind of eye-catching form in front of goal that has attracted the attentions of a whole host of ‘big-name’ clubs from across the Continent in the forward, including Arsenal, who have been tracking the player for some time now.
However, it appears as though the west London club may have now stolen a march on their fierce city rivals in the race to sign Jovetic for next season.
