Manchester City splashed the cash on Tuesday by signing England wonderkid Raheem Sterling from Liverpool for £49m.
Fellow Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal and Manchester United have also made big additions in the summer transfer market.
Arsenal have signed world class goalkeeper Petr Cech from London rivals Arsenal, tightening up one of their few area of weakness.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have gone transfer crazy, adding Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin to Louis van Gaal’s squad for a grand total of £77m.
Defending champions Chelsea have been fairly quiet in the market so far, bringing in just Radamel Falcao – on loan – and Asmir Begovic as first-team reinforcements.
However, Jose Mourinho’s men remain the bookies’ favourites to be crowned domestic champions next May.
Chelsea are available at a best price of 13/8 with Paddy Power, while second favourites City are 11/4 in most places.
Arsenal can be backed at 5/1 with Ladbrokes, while United are as long as 6/1 – with Coral.
Finally, despite being incredibly active in the transfer window, Liverpool are available at a massive 28/1 with Ladbrokes.
