Blues star could make a surprise return to Spain with La Liga champions.
Barcelona are interested in a shock £17m deal for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, according to Spanish source Sport.es.
The Catalan giants are reportedly searching for a striker that can guarantee between 20 and 25 goals next season and believe Torres fits the bill.
The 29-year-old will be tasked with providing back-up for Lionel Messi and £50m new-boy Neymar, with Tottenham and Arsenal target David Villa expected to leave the Nou Camp.
Former Atletico Madrid forward Torres reportedly has a good relationship with Barca president Sandro Rossell, who wanted to sign the Spaniard in 2004 when he was Barca’s vice-president, only for Joan Laporta to opt for Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o.
Torres has struggled to justify his £50m price tag since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Liverpool in January 2011, and the 29-year-old is not thought to be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans at Chelsea.
The Spain international bagged 17 goals in all competitions last seasons but managed just eight in 34 Premier League appearances.
