The Italian side want Ba if Lamela is sold to Tottenham.
With Tottenham Hotspur reportedly closing in on a deal for AS Roma winger Erik Lamela, the Serie A side are going to make an approach to Chelsea for Demba Ba, according to Football Italia.
Ba has found life at Stamford Bridge fairly tough since a £7.5m switch from Newcastle United in January of this year and returning Blues boss Jose Mourinho is thought not to rate the 28-year-old.
The forward managed just two goals in 14 Premier League matches after the move, although had more success in the FA Cup with four strikes in six appearances.
However, with Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku already at the west London club and Mourinho also keen on signing Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, Ba could well be free to leave.
Roma director of sport Walter Sabatini is already in the English capital to discuss the Lamela deal with Spurs and could also tie up a switch for the African at the same time.
Despite Ba’s relatively unimpressive spell at the Bridge, with previous side Newcastle the Senegal international was utterly prolific.
In 54 league matches the attacker netted 29 times for the Magpies and was one of the key reasons the Toon finished fifth in the English top tier in 2011/12.
To date Ba has played in Belgium, Germany and England and would have to adapt to the style of play in Italy, although Roma are in need of a new forward after the sale of the controversial Pablo Osvaldo to Southampton.
