John Obi Mikel has insisted that he will not be leaving Chelsea this summer.
The Nigerian midfielder has been linked with a move to either Abu Dhabi or Turkey after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Stamford Bridge.
But the 28-year-old remains a trusted servant of Jose Mourinho and both player and manager are keen for him to stay, despite Mikel having tested the patience of Blues fans for years.
“I want to stay and the manager wants me to stay,” he told the club website. “I’ve got two years here and I’m happy.
“I like to be somewhere where I have developed friends and family. It’s like my family here and every day I come to work it is like coming in to see my family.”
Mikel is Chelsea’s second-longest serving player behind captain John Terry, having amassed 338 appearances and collected 10 major trophies since joining from Lyn Oslo in 2006.
