Blues hope to sign Real midfielder who describes himself as “one of Mourinho’s disciples”
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants to be reunited with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to the Daily Star.
Mourinho brought Khedira to Real in August 2010 when he signed the German international from Stuttgart.
Khedira quickly became a regular under Mourinho and formed a firm bond with the Special One.
Last year, the 27-year-old described himself as “one of Mourinho’s disciples”.
The Daily Star report that Mourinho is keen on bringing Khedira to Stamford Bridge this summer, adding that Chelsea would have to pay a transfer fee in the region of £36m to convince Real to sell.
Khedira’s pre-season was heavily disrupted by a knee injury and his lay-off seems to have resulted in him falling down the midfield pecking order under new Real boss Carlo Ancelotti.
He has started just 10 La Liga games this season.
