Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has lavished praise on France teammate Anthony Martial after the youngster completed a move to join Premier League giants Manchester United.
Martial made his international debut in France’s 1-0 over Portugal on the weekend, with The Sun reporting the 19-year-old could start in Monday’s friendly against Serbia.
Pogba has interest of his own coming from the Premier League, with Chelsea and Manchester City understood to be keen in the midfielder’s services.
The former Manchester United prodigy said Martial has all it takes to make a big impact at Old Trafford.
“I call him ‘the young old man’ because he’s 19 and already so mature for his age,” Pogba is quoted as saying by The Sun.
“I already knew him well, he has great ability and a huge amount of potential. He will bring a lot to the French team.
“I’m very happy for him, he’s in the Premier League where he’ll train with great players and will keep improving.”
The Red Devils splashed an eye-opening £36m on Martial on deadline day, and the fee could increase to as much as £58m including bonuses and add-ons.
United boss Louis van Gaal was keen to bolster his attack in the summer and the additions of Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial could provide the club with a much-needed boost in the chase for the Premier League crown.
Van Gaal’s side currently sits fourth in the league after four matches.
