Uruguayan international on verge of Chelsea move according to Spanish media.
The agent of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has reportedly met with PSG director Leonardo, while Spanish media reports suggest a deal is done with Chelsea.
The contrasting media reports have added further confusion to the situation, after the player himself stated on Sunday that he would not discuss his future until he has returned from holiday.
While the Italian media suggest the possibility of a contract extension is still feasible, reports in Spain claim that the 26-year-old has agreed personal terms with Jose Mourinho’s side.
The Blues appear to have emerged as favourites for his signature, with interest from Premier League rivals Manchester City going cold.
However according to Le Parisien, Cavani’s agent, Pierpaolo Triulzi, jetted into the French capital on Monday for a meeting with Leonardo.
What is clear at this stage is that Triulzi is expected in Naples on Tuesday to discuss the situation with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.
From that meeting, more will become clear as to where Cavani stands, with De Laurentiis stating from the outset that the striker will not leave unless his €63m release clause fee is met.
The Ligue 1 champions would arguably have no problem meeting this demand given their financial position, and they are expected to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season, as Laurent Blanc looks for additional firepower alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, it remains to be seen where Cavani will start next season, although at this stage it would appear that Chelsea remain at the front of the queue.
