Uruguayan international not expected to return to Italy until next week.
The agent of Chelsea target, Edinson Cavani, is expected to return to Naples tomorrow to begin discussions with the club.
The 26-year-old revealed on Sunday that he wouldn’t be returning to Italy any time soon, as he looks to spend some time with his family in his homeland following the conclusion of the Confederations Cup.
However, his agent, Pierpaolo Triulzi, is set for a short meeting with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis on either Wednesday or Thursday according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
They are expected to discuss the the Uruguayan’s current transfer situation, with media reports suggesting that he has agreed personal terms with Chelsea.
Real Madrid remain interested in the striker, but it is understood that the Premier League outfit have emerged as favourites to land his signature.
Nevertheless, Napoli have remained firm in their standing on Cavani’s future, maintaining that they will not allow him to leave for anything less than his $63m release clause fee.
The former Palermo marksman also sent a message to the fans stating that he would not discuss his future as it will get misinterpreted by the press. However, he did send them his best wishes as reports in the Italian media don’t rule out a possible contract extension.
Meanwhile, Rafa Benitez is set to continue his recruitment drive this week, as he looks to tie up deals for both Madrid star Jose Callejon and Maxime Gonalons.
It is understood that Napoli are awaiting the green light from newly appointed boss Carlo Ancelotti for Callejon, while negotiations with Lyon over Gonalons are on-going.
