The German international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League after stalling on signing a new deal at the Bernabeu, and Chelsea are now the favourites to snap him up, according to the London Evening Standard.
The Blues are determined to sign the World Cup winner, with Jose Mourinho known to be a big fan of the player he worked with during his time at Real.
This will come as some blow for Arsenal and United, who continue to chase further additions in midfield.
