Vitesse Arnhem’s Marco van Ginkel set for Stamford Bridge despite interest from Man United.
Chelsea are in advanced negotiations to sign Dutch wonderkid Marco van Ginkel.
The Vitesse Arnhemm midfielder has also attracted interest from Manchester United, with new Old Trafford boss David Moyes believed to have dispatched chief scout Jim Lawlor to watch the 20-year-old in action for the Netherlands at the under-21 European Championships.
But reports in Holland, covered by Saturday’s Daily Express, claim that Chelsea are close tying up a deal for the youngster, after agreeing a fee in the region of £7.2m for van Ginkel’s services.
Van Ginkel scored 8 goals in 33 appearances for Arnhem last season and mainly operates in a central midfield role.
The youngster will compete with the likes of Jon Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard and Ramires for a starting spot at Stamford Bridge next season, or could be immediately loaned out, a tactic the Blues opted for with Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne and Thiabaut Cortois last season.
