Chelsea are set to sign Nantes defender Papy Djilobodji in a £2.7m deal, according to reports.
According to The Mirror, Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign the Senegalese international and the transfer is due to be completed by Tuesday’s 6pm deadline.
It remains to be seen if Jose Mourinho has made a panic buy after missing out on John Stones, with the report suggesting the 26-year-old was turned down by Norwich, Bournemouth and Sunderland this summer.
Djilobodji has made 169 Ligue 1 appearances for Nantes since making his debut for the club in 2010, but is reportedly known for his erratic performances in the French top flight.
Chelsea missed out on key target John Stones, and Mourinho is keen to bolster his back third after seeing his side ship nine goals in their opening four Premier League matches.
The Blues currently sit 13th on the table, with their only win coming in a 3-2 triumph over West Bromwich Albion.
