Chelsea are lining up an improved £30m bid for Everton starlet John Stones this week, according to reports.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be extremely keen to sign the 21-year-old centre-back, and The Mirror reports the London club will make another move at some point this week.
Chelsea’s defence was opened up on numerous occasions during its 2-2 home draw with Swansea City on Saturday, which will be some cause of concern for Mourinho.
In contrast, Stones was impressive during Everton’s draw with Watford, and his performance will have reinforced Chelsea’s interest.
Everton boss Roberto Marinez is understood to be desperate to keep hold of the youngster, however, a bid in excess of £30m could turn the heads of Everton’s top brass.
The Toffees are understood to have lost Leighton Baines to injury until at least January, meaning Martinez will do all he can to keep the former Barnsley man at Goodison Park.
