The Premier League champions have identified the England international as the future of their defence, and they are hopeful that they can reach an agreement for the 21-year-old.
However, while Everton have insisted that the player isn’t for sale, Stones himself has also insisted that he is happy on Merseyside and insists that his priority is to become a regular starter for Roberto Martinez.
“I am very happy at Everton. My aim right now is to try to nail down a regular spot in this Everton team and hopefully that will take care of playing for England,” he said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“I have to keep learning from the likes of Phil Jagielka and keep progressing at this club.”
Stones was handed the No. 5 shirt earlier this week, and the Toffees see him as a pivotal part of their squad for the future and he is currently contracted to the club until 2019.
