Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen to work with Ronaldo again after the two formed a fine working relationship during his time as manager of Real, and could pounce if his former star player is made available.
The 29-year-old is being widely tipped to leave the Bernabeu next summer, with a return to his old club Manchester United seemingly the most likely destination.
Still, moneybags Chelsea are readying a mammoth £60m offer to try and persuade the Portuguese international to make the move to Stamford Bridge instead.
Recent reports also suggest that Madrid would want Eden Hazard as a replacement for Ronaldo, which could lead to an exchange deal between the two clubs.
