Chelsea’s summer spending spree could begin with a prized Monaco midfielder that bitter rival Arsenal is also looking at.
According to the Metro, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has his eyes on Monaco’s Geoffrey Kondogbia and is poised to make a £25 million offer to the 22-year-old French international in order to augment his midfield and pull the rug out from under the Arsenal Gunners, who the Metro mentioned as being a possible suitor to pull Kondogbia out of his current deal with Monaco.
Kondogbia has played 21 games for Monaco this season, recording 1 goal and 1 assist as the club climbed to the 3rd ranking in Ligue 1. His great defensive play allowed Monaco to return to UEFA Champions League in 2013, their first time back in 10 years. Kondogbia’s current contract does not expire until 2018, but money talks and Chelsea money sometimes talks a lot louder than Arsenal money.
Chelsea won the 2014-15 Premier League Championship and is poised for a massive spending spree to build a potential dynasty in the EPL and a consistent winner in the Champions League. Arsenal is currently third and currently for Champions League via League Position.
