Blues want £25m-rated Belgian at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are ready to move for Everton’s disgraced midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to the Daily Star.
The Belgian was publicly admonished by Toffees boss David Moyes after three incidents involving Fellaini and Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross resulted in a three-match ban for the Everton midfielder, after Saturday’s draw with the Potters at Goodison Park.
Disiplinary problems aside, Fellaini has been on fine form for Moyes’ side this season, leading the Merseysiders’ push for a place in the top four with a series of powerful displays.
But the 25-year-old admitted in August that he could leave Goodison Park as soon as January, with Moyes conceding that he’d be powerless to keep the former Standard Liege star at the club if the ‘right’ offer came in.
The Belgium international has since insisted that he will remain in Liverpool if Everton reach next season’s Champions League courtesy of a top four finish.
But Chelsea are ready to spend big in January to boost their title chances and are in particular need of midfield reinforcements, with Oriel Romeu facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Jon Obi Mikel set for a month’s absence at the African Nations Cup.
Real Madrid and Manchester United are also thought to be tracking £25m-rated Fellaini.
