Michael Essien has apparently failed a medical ahead of a move to AC Milan…
Michael Essien has reportedly failed a medical at AC Milan ahead of a move to the Serie A side from Chelsea, according to Italian daily La Repubblica.
The newspaper claims that AC Milan will now cancel the deal to sign the 31-year-old African because of his chronic knee problems, which has badly affected his form in the past two seasons.
Essien was once rated as one of the country’s most dynamic midfielders, but now struggles to get into the side. He’s only started two matches in the Premier League this term, and is eager to leave the Stamford Bridge club to play more first-team football.
Interestingly, the failure to finalise this deal could have a big impact on the transfer market. Liverpool are interested in AC Milan’s Nigel De Jong, who may not be allowed to leave if the Essien deal is cancelled.
