Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about the possibility of signing either of PSG’s superstar strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Edinson Cavani in the summer, the Sun reports.
The Blues currently have the soon to be out of contract Samuel Eto’o, the out of touch Fernando Torres and backup forward Demba Ba up top, and the Portuguese boss has lamented his striker options all season.
He will almost definitely aggressively target the acquisition of a world-class forward in the summer, but reckons that tempting brilliant Swede Ibrahimovic is more than unlikely.
“It is impossible. I don’t want talk about it because it is impossible,” he said.
The 32-year-old has been sensational this term, scoring 32 goals in Ligue 1 and the Champions League combined so far.
“He is happy in Paris. I know this because we are friends and we have been in contact,” Mourinho continued.
“Paris, with its financial potential, will never want to let him go. It’s impossible.”
Ibrahimovic’s strike partner Cavani arrived at the club for a mammoth £57m fee last summer, and while Mourinho accepts bringing him to Stamford Bridge will be difficult, he doesn’t rule out the possibility.
“PSG paid a lot of money for him. His contract is also incredible,” he said when asked about Cavani.
“Maybe it’s not impossible like Zlatan because I think Zlatan is more important to the structure of the club, but I think that it’s also difficult.”
Cavani is 27-years-old, and has scored 17 goals in 24 starts for PSG this season.
