Eto’o admits he will return to Real Mallorca when the striker’s contract expires.
After scoring a hat-trick against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has revealed the 32-year-old will return to Mallorca in the summer.
Eto’o signed a one-year contract with the Blues in 2013 after joining from Anzhi Makhachkala and has since had an indifferent time in England since.
The three goals against the Red Devils are of course a high point, but the Cameroon international has been criticised for showing a lack of killer instinct in the box previously.
The strikes against United take Eto’o’s tally for the season to 10 efforts in 20 appearances – a good return – but Mallorca beckons for the forward.
“I’ll always like Barca, but I personally prefer Mallorca,” the African was quoted by the Daily Express.
“My son has pressured me to finish my career there, as he is from there.
“I have signed on at Chelsea for the entire season and will try to enjoy it.
“Later on, I will go to Mallorca.”
Eto’o spent four years on the Balearic island before making the switch to Barcelona in 2004 and then to Inter Milan in 2009 as part of the deal that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrive at the Nou Camp.
The attacker won three Champions League medals in both Spain and Italy, but still sees Mallorca as his second home – as it is an area where the Cameroonian’s son grew up.
