Chelsea have announced they have agreed a fee with FC Basel for the signing of their winger Mohamed Salah.
The deal will be completed in the coming days subject to the Egypt international completing a medical and agreeing personal terms with the club.
Salah – who is known in his home country as ‘the Egyptian Messi’ – played brilliantly against Chelsea in both the home and away matches of their UEFA Champions League group, with FC Basel triumphing on each occasion.
The 21 year-old had been heavily linked with Liverpool for much of the last month, but now it appears that he is set to move to Stamford Bridge.
#LFC wanted to sign Salah in Jan but never made an official bid and failed to agree a fee with Basel. Good signing for #CFC

Told the Salah deal may actually end up costing Chelsea closer to £16m. #LFC felt that price was a step too far for them.

Salah has scored 10 times and supplied 6 assists in his 28 matches for FC Basel this season, and will compete for a place in the Blues attacking midfield with the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian, Oscar and Andre Schurrle.
Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester United.
