The Belgian, 21, is currently enjoying a third consecutive season-long loan with Real’s city rivals Atletico Madrid, but Los Blancos chief Florentino Perez is a huge fan of Courtois wants to keep him in Madrid next season.
The La Liga giants have reportedly contacted Courtois directly in recent weeks and Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez, the club’s general director, are thought to be confident of negotiating a deal with Chelsea, with whom they have an excellent relationship.
However, Atletico are still interested in retaining the stopper permanently, while Chelsea are thought to want the Belgium international to return this summer.
Courtois has made it clear he will not return to Stamford Bridge to sit on the bench and, with Petr Cech still impressing as the Blues’ number one, Jose Mourinho will have a decision to make in the near future.
