Southampton’s Luke Shaw wanted by Chelsea.
Southampton are braced for an approach from Chelsea for left-back Luke Shaw in January, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Saints are adamant the 18-year-old, valued at least £20m, is not for sale in January but still expect the Blues to try to open talks over the player, who is viewed as Ashley Cole’s long-term replacement at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham are also interested in Shaw, who is a Chelsea fan, which could see the London rivals embroiled in a bidding war for the England under-21 star next month.
Chelsea would be willing to allow Ryan Bertrand to leave West London to free up space for Shaw, with Liverpool, Everton and Sunderland all keen on the 24-year-old.
If the Toffees managed to land Bertrand, this could see Manchester United finally lure Leighton Baines to Old Trafford in a left-back transfer merry-go-round.
