Funded by new owner Erick Thohir, a wealthy Indonesian businessman, Inter are set for a huge rebuilding programme this summer.
The Nerazzurri seem to be mainly targeting ageing Premier League stars, and the club have already landed Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic and been linked with Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna.
Di Marzio says Torres is also on the club’s wanted list, along with Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata and Edin Dzeko of Man City.
Crucially, Chelsea are happy to allow the Spaniard to move to the San Siro on loan.
Torres has made 37 appearances for the Blues this season but has managed just seven goals.
The Stamford Bridge club are widely expected to sign a new striker in the summer, with the likes of Radamel Falcao and Diego Costa reportedly on boss Jose Mourinho’s wish-list.
