Milan’s Balotelli is keen for a return to England and a reunion with the manager.
Former Manchester City and current AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has hinted at a Chelsea transfer by stating the Italian wants to play for Jose Mourinho again.
Balotelli worked under Mourinho’s guidance for two years whilst the pair were at Inter Milan between 2008 and 2010, but they fell out with each other on numerous occasions.
However, the 23-year-old – who has never been far away from controversy during the forward’s career – has declared a reunion with the manager would be attractive.
“Of course I would like to play under Jose again,” Balotelli was quoted by the Mirror.
“In my first days at Inter we had some problems, but then it turned into a mutual respect, and now we have a real friendship.
“It is never boring playing under Jose. When you are in Mourinho’s team it is a family and he coaches on the principal that if all is well with the family it doesn’t matter what is going on outside the team.”
The Italy international has a strong bond with the City fans though after spending two-and-a-half years at the Etihad Stadium and has previously said he wouldn’t return to England.
Yet the lure of Mourinho may force Balotelli to reconsider that stance, especially as the Blues have targeted the attacker as they look for new recruitment up-front.
The current striking trio of Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres have all failed to perform to the standards expected in west London and signing the Milan star could be the perfect acquisition.
