Blues open talks with AS Monaco over Radamel Falcao deal.
Chelsea have made contact with AS Monaco about Radamel Falcao and hope to lure the Colombian hit-man to Stamford Bridge in January, according to The Daily Express.
The Blues are hopeful a deal for the striker can be done but are unwilling to pay Monaco’s £85m asking price.
The Ligue 1 outfit have continued to insist that Falcao is not for sale in public but reports in France suggest the striker is unhappy at the club and does not see eye-to-eye with head-coach Claudio Ranieri.
Magazine Le10Sport claim the striker, who arrived from Atletico Madrid this summer in a deal worth a reported £50m, has not been happy since being substituted in the 63rd minute against Nantes in November.
And coupled with Russian owner Dmitry Rybolovlev’s concerns about Financial Fair Play, there is a slim chance the Blues could get their man next month.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are both monitoring the situation but it is understood Falcao’s super-agent Jorge Mendes would prefer the Colombia international to link up with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who is also his client.
Falcao’s astronomical asking price remains an issue however but Monaco are open to taking either Fernando Torres and Demba Ba in part-exchange and there is thought to be scope for negotiation.
