The west London side want Sevilla’s Moreno.
Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno has emerged as Chelsea’s No.1 target to replace Ashley Cole and the club are lining up a £12m bid, according to the Daily Express.
The 21-year-old has been impressing in La Liga this season and it’s understood both Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been keeping tabs – with the Spaniards leading the way.
Cole is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer when the 33-year-old’s current deal with the Blues expires and either Liverpool or New York Red Bulls are thought to be the most likely destinations.
The England international has lost his place in the starting XI to Cesar Azpilicueta in 2013/14 and is no longer in manager Jose Mourinho’s plans.
As good as usual right-back Azpilicueta has been filling in on the left, Mourinho still wants more support in the back four and has been impressed by Moreno’s form.
The Spanish starlet is a product of the youth academy at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium and broke into the first team back in early 2013.
Since then Moreno has played 57 times for the club in all competitions and this term has helped them to the Europa League semi-finals and the cusp of Champions League qualification.
The defender has also earned his first two caps for the Spain senior team this campaign and is quickly becoming regarded as one of the most promising talents in the nation.
At £12m Moreno would also be significantly cheaper than the £30m fees that are being quoted for Southampton teenager Luke Shaw.
