2) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

Despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, Chelsea are reportedly in a good position to sign Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain this summer.

Pros: Great finisher and consistent down the years with big clubs and the Argentina national team, available for a decent price of £42m and still only 27. Knows Mourinho well from their time together at Real Madrid, so should settle fairly quickly.

Cons: Slight reputation for being a big-game bottler, and perhaps not the big, powerful centre-forward in the Diego Costa or Didier Drogba mould that Chelsea like.
