Blues aim to capture Raphael Varane
The Mirror have claimed that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to launch an ambitious move to sign Real Madrid’s French defender Raphael Varane, as they search for a replacement for PSG-bound David Luiz.
The Blues already have Kurt Zouma on their books, but he is viewed as a long term prospect, and is likely to spend next season away on loan. That leaves John Terry, Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic as the club’s only recognised centre-half’s something Mourinho is keen to address.
The 21-year-old, who is currently at the World Cup with his country, is believed to be Chelsea’s first choice, with Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala and Roma’s Mehdi Benatia also on the radar.
