Manchester City have stolen a march on Chelsea in the pursuit of world-class forward Radamel Falcao, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the Colombian attacker, currently with AS Monaco, but City director of football Txiki Begiristain apparently met with the 28-year-old and his agent in Madrid on Tuesday.
However, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, Singaporean businessman Peter Lim and Monaco owner Dimitry Rybolovlev were all also present, meaning that the player is now being linked with the Bernabeu club too.
Falcao is currently injured following his mammoth £53m move from Atletico Madrid last summer, but has proven over the last few seasons in Europe he’s one of the world’s very best.
A move to the Premier League would be costly, but could instal either Chelsea or City as favourites to pick up the top flight trophy next term.
