Blues hope to be able to persuade Pole to move to the capital this summer.
Chelsea will switch their attentions to Borussia Dortmund front man Robert Lewandowski after giving up on Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.
The west London club had made the Uruguay international their number one striking target of the summer, however, with his club insisting on any potential suitor meeting the full value of the buyout clause in his contract, which amounts to a whopping £54.5 million, the Blues have now decided to turn their focus elsewhere.
And that means the Uefa Europa League holders attempting to lure Dortmund’s coveted Poland international to Stamford Bridge when the summer transfer window finally reopens for business on July 1.
Lewandowski, 24, has just enjoyed a wonderful campaign for the Bundesliga side, netting an impressive 36 goals in just 48 matches in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men and Chelsea believe that they can get the player for a fee of £25m.
