How the Blues will lineup at Stamford Bridge.
With Manchester City slipping up midweek Chelsea have a chance to seize the advantage in the Premier League title race when they host Sunderland.
However, it was the Black Cats that held City to a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday and despite their league position Gus Poyet’s men cannot be underestimated.
Here is how we expect the Blues to lineup at Stamford Bridge.
GK – Petr Cech
Little doubt who will be between the sticks as the Czech Republic international has started every league match this season and will be looking to prove to Jose Mourinho that he deserves to keep his place ahead of Thibaut Courtois next term.
RB – Branislav Ivanovic
With the best defensive record in the entire division there is no reason to think Mourinho will tinker with the back four and Ivanovic will continue his impressive development as a right-back.
LB – Cesar Azpilicueta
Ashley Cole can continue to look on grimly as much to many peoples’ surprise Azpilicueta carries on impressing as a converted left-back.
CB – Gary Cahill
The England international is someone who has really benefited from Mourinho’s return to west London as Cahill now looks like a top-class defender who is comfortable on any stage.
CB – John Terry
With a new deal for the captain not yet confirmed the 33-year-old will need to keep giving good displays as centre-back to show he deserves to stay for at least one more year.
