After former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas made the shocking decision to move to Stamford Bridge, Jose Mourinho wants Chelsea to sign another former Gunners star.
Buoyed by their £27 million signing of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona recently, Chelsea are now also interested in signing another former Arsenal man in Barca’s outcast midfielder Alex Song, according to the Metro.
The 26-year old Cameroon international failed to make an impact for the Catalans after making the switch to the Camp Nou from the Emirates in 2012, and is now being allowed leave the Spanish giants for a mere £10 million transfer fee.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho probably sees this as the chance to sign a Premier League adapted defensive midfielder in Song for a relatively cheap price, and possibly also sees the former Arsenal man fitting into his industrious philosophy at Stamford Bridge – particularly after John Obi Mikel failed to convince in the same position.
Song is an uncompromising defensive midfielder probably being looked at as backup option by Chelsea if Brazilian Ramires leaves for Real Madrid in the summer, and the Cameroon international too is believed to be keen on returning to the Premier League, where he feels that his talents are more appreciated.
